Mud, gunfire and skinwalkers abound in “Blood Moon” trailer

Jeremy Wooding’s horror/western film Blood Moon is coming to a screen right in front of you this September, courtesy of Uncork’d Entertainment and Jinga Films.

A stagecoach full of passengers and an enigmatic gunslinger are held hostage by two outlaws on the run from the law but events take an unexpected turn when the travelers are stalked by a mythical beast that only appears on the night of a blood red moon.

The premise sounds a bit corny, but the trailer‘s presentation of the characters (and the glimpses of the skinwalker) worked for me. I like it when I learn about a werewolf film and come away from the trailer feeling like I’d enjoy it even if the werewolf was a red herring.

Dread Central reports that “Blood Moon will arrive on DVD and VOD September 1″, and Jinga Films says it’ll be available in the UK on October 5th. It’s available for pre-order now through Amazon North America and Amazon UK.

There are three different covers / posters and I’m posting them all because I think they’re pretty darn good. Jinga’s promo poster is something I’d happily hang on a wall. The North American cover‘s illustration is terrific (I do like a nice werewolf claw-hand), and they upgraded the tagline from “execrable rhyme” to “vaguely threatening nonsense”. All three feature a slightly different werewolf design, but whatever.
