Werewolf News reader Nathan Roe sent me a link to these amazing pieces of leatherwork by Bob Basset. They’re not specifically for a werewolf outfit, but it’s not hard to imagine them looking awesome in that context. Let me save you some time– it appears they were made for a private collector, and aren’t for sale.

An American Werewolf in London 1:1 Scale Prop For Sale
Gift shopping for the werewolf fan who has everything? Then why not fill up her living room with this 1:1 scale replica of the werewolf from An American Werewolf in London?
This handsome fellow is eight feet long from muzzle to back claws, five feet across and three and a half feet tall. He can menace your living space for $3,200 US, which seems reasonable when I consider that the mask in the background of Werewolf News cost me nearly $2,500. Those searching for a more economical werewolf prop might wish to consider the American Werewolf in London prop bust, which is basically the pointy end of the full prop. Visit the Monster Galaxy web site for more details. Anyone wishing to get me either of these items is welcome to contact me for my mailing address. Thanks to Jax for the link!
Nice Shoes, Scott! Nike Dunk Low Premium “Teen Wolf” Sneakers
Okay, depending on who you listen to this might have been news six months ago, but I’ve never seen them before today and they’re too awesome not to share. Feast your eyes on these Dunk Low Premium Teen Wolf sneakers, courtesy of Nike. I guess these are what Michael J. Fox / Scott Howard would have worn in Teen Wolf if he wasn’t able to grow his own fur. They’re designed in the colours of the Beavers, Scott’s high school basketball team, and they sport crazy brown fur around the ankles and down the tongue. These were released as part of the Nike Media pack, which featured three pairs of sneakers created in honour of classic basketball movies (the other two films that inspired designs were Hoosiers and White Men Can’t Jump). Apparently only 72 were created, but you can still buy them directly from Osneaker.com for $200 US, and there are a few pairs floating around on eBay. Roukas, get your credit card ready! More photos after the break, courtesy of Osneaker.
Aeria Games to Publish Wolf Team in North America and Europe
This afternoon I received a message from Melodie Leonard at Aeria Games out of California. She sent me a press release announcing that Aeria has acquired the license for Wolf Team, a post about which you might recall from last month. Read on for the full text of the press release, or dig on this summary: Aeria is one of the top publishers of Free-to-Play online games in North America and Europe, and they will be releasing English- and German-language versions of Wolf Team later this summer. Here’s hoping for an OS X client!

The Grinder: Multiplayer Monster Hunting for the Wii
According to this exclusive by IGN, High Voltage Software has a new game planned for next year, titled “The Grinder”. It’s a first-person shooter for the Wii, designed with a multiplayer experience in mind (similar to Left 4 Dead). HVS Chief Creative Officer Eric Nofsinger describes the game’s setting:
…the game takes place in a world we’ve imagined where monsters are real. Vampires, werewolves, and undead are all a part of everyday life and this world has adapted to their presence. Our group of heroes is a sort of the cryptobiological A-Team of going into areas with infestations and killing everything that moves. We’ve definitely been influenced by lots of great horror movies and the grindhouse style is something we’ve tried to incorporate into our characters and storyline.
I’m really excited about a game like this being developed for the Wii, especially after reading about the game engine, the AI and the lovely array of weapons on offer. The IGN article even has a few samples of background music from the game, including a “Trent Reznor meets Ennio Morricone” track called “Werewolf“.
The Grinder is still under development at the moment– apparently they’re still working out some of the online multiplayer options and the single-player campaign details. The plan is for a Holiday 2010 release, but if you want a sneak peak, check out the article or get yourself to E3 next week for an in-person demo.
Darkstalkers Tribute Art Book from UDON Entertainment
Tandemonium has alerted me to UDON Entertainment’s Darkstalkers Tribute book, which sounds like the holy grail for fans of the video game series‘ iconic art and character design. Expect plenty of Jon Talbain art!
Inside are nearly 300 pages of artwork portraying the Darkstalkers cast in a feverish array of styles and designs, from tightly rendered realistic paintings through to abstract and iconic interpretations. This is a lush video game art gallery in a book, bursting with inspiration and energy on every page.
The book is a nice fat hardcover edition, and you can pre-order it straight from UDON’s site for $80 US + shipping. It will also be available at a number of anime and video game conventions, including Anime Expo, Otakon and Penny Arcade Expo. Preorders through the web site ship in August.
Monster Costumes for LBP Out Today
Just a quick reminder that Media Molecule’s Monsters costumes downloadable content for LittleBigPlanet comes out today. Sackwolf, activate!
You can read more about the Monsters DLC in this post from earlier in the week.
Media Molecule Releasing Monster Costumes for LBP, Including a Werewolf
Monster costumes in May? That’s what I like to hear! On May 21st Media Molecule, the creators of LittleBigPlanet for the PlayStation 3, are releasing Monsters as two downloadable content packs. The Monsters Kit pack ($3.99 / €3.99) contains monster-related materials, stickers, objects and sounds. The Monster Costumes pack ($2.99 / €2.99 for the set, or $0.99 each) boasts four monster costumes– Zombie, Sackula, Bride of Sackula and (what else?) Werewolf. Each costume breaks down into parts so you can mix and match costume components: the Werewolf costume contains a Werewolf head, Werewolf torso, Werewolf tail and Werewolf trousers. Check out the trailer below to see all four costumes in action.
WolfTeam: Counterstrike, But With Werewolves
Today I came across this hackenslash post that talks about a new online first-person shooter called WolfTeam.
WolfTeam plays similar to most first-person shooter games but adds some elements of fantasy and science fiction; instead of ordinary humans soldiers with weapons, players can transform into werewolves that are more resilient against weapons but themselves are unable to carry any while in this state.
Characters that transform into werewolves are able to move faster, jump higher and can climb walls. They use their claws instead to attack enemies.
The game was developed by South Korean developer softnyx for Internet cafes in the Philippines. It’s totally free (although sadly it’s only for Windows), and I’m downloading the client now. If it’s anywhere near as awesome as it sounds, I’ll be sure to post about it here. I have the fingers of one hand crossed and the other on WASD.
