A friend sent this to me, assuming that I would enjoy seeing a dapper stop-motion wolf dismantling a psychotic stop-motion pig. His assumption was correct; now I’m sharing it with you. If you like explicit stop-motion gore and mildly sexual situations, you will like this. If you do not like those things, please leave the Internet right away.
This is just the right thing for a Friday afternoon.
While cartoony and childish on the surface, this short feature is a frightening venture into the subconscious of the animal that is man. And please, be honest; there are likely a few people here who have thought something along the lines of: “I was sitting in my huge leather armchair watching telly, and thinking how marvelous it would be to be a werewolf.” Savor and enjoy!
It looks like artists like Dark Natasha, Goldenwolf, and Synnabar have joined forces to become a lycanthropic strikeforce of pure awesome… and create a werewolf-themed calendar for 2010. Check out their well-drawn and nuanced images at WerewolfCalendar.com.
Have another helping of Tatopoulos werewolf character design! Earlier today it was the Lycan costume from Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, and now I’m pleased to share a concept illustration of the Werewolf character from the forthcoming film version of Kevin Grevioux’s I, Frankenstein comic. This artwork was originally sent to Bloody Disgusting, so props to them for posting it!
The film is to be directed by Patrick Tatopoulos, who designed the werewolves in the first two Underworld films, then went on to direct Rise of the Lycans. Grevioux and Tatopoulus have worked together before: Grevioux developed the story for the first Underworld and was heavily involved in script-writing and co-producing throughout the series. Oh yeah, and he played the lycan Raze. So basically these guys know werewolves.
Strangeways: Murder Moon writer Matt Maxwell posts full pages from his werewolves & cowboys comic on CBR‘s Robot 6 blog, then provides a “director’s commentary” on the writing and Luis Guaragna‘s art. If you still haven’t read Murder Moon, seeing it one page at a time with insight from the creator is a great way to take it in. Matt posted page 16 yesterday– check it out.

Glen Ostrander submitted this image back in April, and with the recent discussion of whether Michael Jackson was a werewolf or a werecat in the Thriller video, the time seemed right to post it. “I recently created a pastiche type horror movie poster”, Glen writes, “for a weekly challenge at a website I contribute to called Conceptart.org. The challenge was to design a character based off of Puss in Boots.” From the moonlit sky to the dramatic transformation poses, there’s a lot of werewolf in this were-cat picture! I particularly like the typography on the full-sized version– I can easily see this as a poster for a 1980’s horror film. Before he passed away, Michael Jackson was getting ready for “This Is It”, a 50-show residency at London’s O2 Arena. Now that Michael’s gone, refunds are being issued for tickets, but the official Michael Jackson tour web shop is still selling This Is It merchandise, including this “Cartoon Thriller video Michael Jackson Werewolf shirt“. Questions of taste and decorum aside, I want this shirt.
While searching for an image to accompany a post about the inclusion of Michael Jackson’s Thriller werewolf costume in a stage performance he was working on, I found this fantastic illustration by storyboard artist Shane Lewis. From the oh-so-80’s jacket to his tremendous mane, Shane totally nailed Michael’s werewolf look from the epic music video. Truly, werewolf Michael Jackson is not like other guys. For starters, no other guy would wear loafers like that. Shane posted this around Halloween 2007, back when the Internet only had miserable things to say about Jackson, so he earns quadruple karma points for being a kick-ass artist and a nice guy.
