Howl Con is this weekend, and the schedule of events has just been posted! There’s lots going on for werewolf fans in Vancouver this Saturday and Sunday. I’m excited and nervous, because my name is on that schedule a few times.
I have two panels to myself, which is a first for me. On Saturday at 5PM I’ll be talking about whether or not there’s such a thing as a “canonical” werewolf, and on Sunday at 3PM I’ll be talking about the creative and practical effort that goes into into creating and maintaining something like the Supernatural Registration Authority.
I’ll also be on a few roundtable discussions with other guests, with whom I’m going to be talking about comics, the various ways you can become a werewolf, and the endless ankle-kicking that goes on between werewolves and vampires. It’s an honour to be asked to participate at all, and although I’m nervous, I hope I can give attendees something worth thinking about.
My wife Tandye has a panel on Sunday, too, at 11AM, during which she’s going to be talking about drawing werewolves. I’ll be there for that (even though I can’t draw), and I encourage anyone who likes art (making it or looking at it) to attend!
We’ll also have a table in the Dealer’s Den, so come say hi to us there – during the weekend it’ll be attended by various combinations of Tandye, our friend Carlos or myself. We’ll have buttons, cool little illustrated copies of my short story The Librarian, artwork, and Tandye will be taking commissions.
I can’t think of a good way to wrap up this post because now I have to get in a car and drive for six hours. Hope to see you there!
