“Werewolf” Series DVD Release Date Pushed Back, Pre-Order + Two Features Announced

Werewolf: The Complete SeriesThe eagerly anticipated 5-DVD release of the Werewolf TV series was originally scheduled for a September 1st release, but now TVShowsOnDVD.com is saying that the date has been pushed back to October 6th. These are the folks who originally broke the story about Werewolf being officially released, so I’m gonna go ahead and trust them on this one.

No word on what caused the delay, but it might be that Shout! Factory wants a bit more time to cram the discs full of extras and features, two of which have been announced: “The Man Who Was Alamo Joe” with actor Lance LeGault, and “To Build A Better Werewolf” with special makeup FX creators Greg Cannom and Gino Crognale.

One last thing, and it might be the best news yet: if you’re like me and you can’t keep your release dates straight, you can pre-order Werewolf: The Complete Series from Amazon for $34.99 US. Is it just me, or is that ridiculously cheap?

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans DVD/Blu-Ray Release Date

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans will be released in two delicious home formats: standard DVD and high-def Blu-Ray. Bonus features include:

  • “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans – From Script to Screen” Featurette
  • “The Origin of the Feud” Featurette
  • “Re-Creating the Dark Ages – The Look of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” Featurette
  • Music Video: “Deathclub” By William Control
  • Filmmakers’ Commentary

Blu-Ray only features include:

  • A Digital Copy of the film for PC, PSP, Mac or iPod
  • Behind the Castle Walls: Picture-in-Picture
  • “Lycanthropes Around the World” Interactive Map

Both version will be released on May 12th, but if you want to get in line now, you can preorder the Blu-Ray version from Amazon.

The Wolfman 7″ Action Figure

ArcLight just sent in word that Mezco Toyz is now taking preorders for a 7″ Wolfman action figure. For $18.00 US, you can secure a figure that has “intense film accurate detail, 12 points of articulation, and sculpted clothing”. It ships in April 2009, just in time for the realease of the film. I don’t know about you, but I’ve already placed a preorder for this sharp little guy, and I’m seriously considering the 12″ version as well.

Wolves of Odin Preview & Pre-order

For those of you who agree that “werewolf versus viking” is the new “werewolf versus vampire”, rejoice! Grant Gould has posted six preview pages of his upcoming Wolves of Odin graphic novel, which is due out in November.

If you’d like to pre-order a copy, you’ll find Wolves of Odin in the September edition of Previews magazine, on page 318. Its Diamond Order Code is SEP084260, and you can use that order code to get Wolves through Previews, or directly from any comic retailer who knows what’s up.

Legendary Available for Preorder

This is a good week for preorders! If you’re interested in Legendary – The Game (formerly Legendary – The Box), it’s now available for preorder. If you’re interested in battling and, apparently, herding werewolves (among other supernatural creatures), you can pick it up from Amazon for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 or Windows (2000, XP or Vista). It ships November 4, 2008.
