Harry Knowles over at AICN reported yesterday that the score to The Wolfman will be composed by none other than Danny Elfman, whose numerous works include scores for Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride and quite a few other films that have nothing to do with Tim Burton. Nothing else is known at this time, and Knowles didn’t cite any sources, but come on. It’s Harry Knowles. The guy probably knew before Elfman did. In any case, this is good news– Elfman really knows how to set the mood for a dark film like The Wolfman.

To quote Roukwolf, who submitted this piece by artist SOLIDASP, this werewolf is “…distinctively feral, but with just enough traces of human. In other words, this werewolf seems to have just the right amount of ‘were.'” I agree with him! SOLIDASP has captured an excellent hybrid of human and wolf here, with a humanoid shape, a feral pose, and just the right balance of human articulation. eBay Auction for Rob Zombie Wolf Boy Banner
Rob Zombie is auctioning off a “Lycane the Wolf Boy” banner used in the music video for White Zombie’s Electric Head Pt. 2. According to the auction description, it measures approximately 10 feet wide bt 4.5 feet tall, and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Mr. Zombie himself. The auction ends at 11:02:20 PDT on August 29th. If I had the money and the wallspace, you can bet I wouldn’t be posting about this auction here– I’d be bid-sniping to snag this thing myself! Versipellis Studios
Kalypso sent me a message last week about her web site, Versipellis Studios.
My business name and website is called Versipellis Studios. Versipellis as you probably know, is greek for “turn-skin” or werewolf. I do a lot of werewolf art and it is posted on my website… which is still in the works and will soon have its own domain name.
Kalypso’s art style reminds me a lot of Sam Kieth’s style in The Maxx. Very cool– check it out!
More Sonic Unleashed Screenshots (with Extra Werewolf Goodness)
CVG has posted fifteen new Sonic Unleashed screenshots, officially released by Sega as part of their continued effort to show that for the first time since Sonic & Knuckles, they’re trying really hard to make a Sonic game that doesn’t suck.
The game’s not out yet, so I can’t attest to the game’s playability, but from the looks of the screenshots, it’s gonna be gorgeous. As an added bonus that makes the game relevant to this site, ten of the fifteen screenshots show Sonic in his werewolf form, whomping the hell out of his foes.
For those who don’t know, Sonic Unleashed is being released for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 18th 2008. An alternate version for the Wii will be released at the same time.
High Moon Still Going Strong
Allow me to once again recommend High Moon, the ongoing “supernatural shenanigans in the Old West” comic saga by David Gallaher and Steve Ellis. It’s pretty much the top-rated series running on Zuda Comics, and with over 60 pages of excellent art and a creative, engaging story, it shows no signs of slowing down. Check it out!
Vancouver Film School Graduate Wins Werewolf Makeup Prize
Vancouver Film School graduate Crissy Renaud’s werewolf placed 2nd in an international makeup competition run by Make-Up Artist Magazine in July. Crissy’s work was part of the Student Competition at IMATS, the International Make-Up Artist Trade Show, held in Pasedena, California. VFS has a short but excellent interview with Crissy, wherin she talks about her prep work, the werewolf movies that inspired her, and how she decided what sort of werewolf to create. Congratulations, Crissy!

ArcLight sent in this fake (but awesome) trailer by Joe Avella, for a handi-capable horror film called Wheelchair Werewolf.
If this site made any money, I’d put ArcLight on the payroll and task him with finding ridiculous stuff like this. “Almost no-one can escape… Wheelchair Werewolf!”
