Gladiators V Werewolves to be a Trilogy

A. Quinton — Jun. 2nd 2009

According to Screen, Edge of Empires is going to be the first film in a Gladiators V Werewolves trilogy.

Edge of Empire is the first part of epic action trilogy Gladiators Vs Werewolves and is set in AD160 when Rome occupied Britain. It is a story about the discovery of a ferocious tribe of werewolves who are captured and made to fight against the gladiators of ancient Rome.

Icon Film Distribution has acquired UK and Australasian rights to distribute the film, and other territories have either been sewn up as well, or are on the way (no word on North America yet). Production on Edge of Empires starts later this year, and will feature make-up & creature effects by Shaune Harrison.

  • My fourth book in the Wolf Maiden Chronicles also takes place in Ancient Rome and about Werewolf Gladiators. Basically group of Roman lycans using captured barbarian werewolves for the games.

Currently Werewolf Sanctuary is out and doing well on Amazon. The next in the series are all “Werehistoricals”. Beast Warrior my Viking werewolf novel is due out in July.

  • Is this movie going to be in theaters or straight to DVD?

Interesting. Isn’t Icon owned by Mel Gibson? I’ve enjoyed most of their releases, and the ones I haven’t enjoyed have at least made me think.

However, I don’t think they should be ambitious enough to make GVW a trilogy yet, especially since they don’t know how the first movie is going to do. Here’s hoping they put their best foot forward with GVW 1.

I Agree with Roukas, seems a little over confident to be thinking about trilogies –
i am really intrigued by this premise though and look forward to seeing it.
The art/design of the lycanthrop in gladiators armour looks amazing.

    Can’t wait.

By the way- i saw these pics in GOREZONE Mag if anyone wondering.
