It's certainly a powerful tableau-- the colours give it a breathless, frozen-in-time quality, as though two chess pieces have been frozen in position for a moment before coming into play.

Here's hoping you take 1st place, SPW!

Man, you discover news like this at a rate I can hardly keep up with! Keep going with it!

Anyway, there's definitely a lot of rarr in that painting. That woof knows what he wants for sure! And I think those two certainly have something going on together. Their positioning is too well-orchestrated for it to be antagonistic. Maybe the wolf has said something like, "Ok, tonight, I'm only giving you a 20-second head start!" or something. As hot as that would be, the painting resonates with potential symbolism: I find it interesting that they're both on rocks with the water undisturbed around them (you'd think that the woman would have left some splashes in the water if she was fleeing, having just stepped out of the water and onto the rock!). The moon is directly between them, creating a triangle formation.

Hmm. Granted, I tend to read too much into things. But regardless, the thing I love most about this is how the moon lights up the night while preserving it at the same time!
